Casa Ananda (2023)
Baja California Sur, Mexico
650m2
Nestled in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Casa Ananda transcends its architectural function to become a space for introspection and connection with the landscape. Designed by Yturbe Taller de Arquitectura, the residence is organized around a central courtyard where openness and intimacy converge, weaving together the exterior and interior in a harmonious dialogue.
The rhythm of the volumes defines the home. The architectural bodies are carefully articulated to create movement and balance, avoiding monotony through subtle shifts in height and depth. Vertical concrete fins on the façade emphasize verticality and generate dynamic plays of light and shadow that evolve throughout the day, establishing a spatial choreography that invites one to inhabit every corner.
Casa Ananda, whose name means bliss in Sanskrit, captures views of the sea and mountains while preserving a contemplative space in its central garden, anchored by a wild plum tree—symbol of the passing of time and emotional core of the project.
The sculptural pool, finished in deep black tones, transforms water into a natural mirror, reflecting the sky and surrounding landscape, offering an experience that is both contemplative and artistic.
The project follows a bioclimatic approach, prioritizing thermal comfort through cross ventilation, strategic shading, and passive systems. Rainwater harvesting and reuse, along with solar panels, encourage the use of renewable energy and ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.
Casa Ananda is a place for fully living—where architecture, landscape, and people coexist in harmony, balancing introspection and togetherness in each everyday moment.
