Located on Playa Punta Gorda, near Santa Cruz de los Zacatitos, Punta Gorda is a retreat that harmonizes design, functionality, and nature. This residential space, designed to accommodate 12 people, embraces the beauty and unique qualities of its coastal surroundings. Its development in four stages allows for efficient execution while respecting the rugged topography and minimizing environmental impact through sustainable strategies. In the first stage, the main social areas are established, including the living-dining room, kitchen, terrace, and service spaces. The second stage adds a spacious bedroom and a pool. The third includes the primary suite with a terrace and plunge pool, along with an additional bedroom. Finally, the fourth stage incorporates a family room and multiple bedrooms with balconies, completing the architectural vision. The design integrates passive strategies such as cross ventilation, solar energy harvesting, and wastewater reuse, supporting long-term sustainability. Local stone and earthy finishes tie the architecture to the landscape. At the heart of the project, the living-dining room stands out as a central space that frames views of the Sea of Cortez, fostering a constant connection with the natural surroundings. Punta Gorda redefines the balance between habitability and preservation, offering an architectural model that celebrates natural beauty while reinforcing a commitment to sustainability.
