Vinícola Paralelo (2006)

Baja California Sur, México

3000m2

In the heart of the Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s premier wine region, Vinícola Paralelo merges tradition, landscape, and sustainable design. In an ideal environment for grape cultivation, its architecture respects and takes advantage of the local climatic and natural conditions, integrating seamlessly into the landscape without altering its essence. Built between 2005 and 2006, the winery uses compacted earth, a technique that evokes prehistoric cave paintings and strengthens its historical connection to the environment. The design adapts to the land with courtyards, terraces, and gardens of native species, minimizing environmental impact and simplifying maintenance. These green areas harmoniously connect the interior with the exterior, maximizing views and interaction with the surrounding environment. With a focus on the wine-making process, the spaces are divided into public and private zones, integrating production, storage, and tasting in a journey that invites learning and enjoyment. The use of local materials not only highlights the beauty of the landscape but also reinforces the commitment to sustainability. Thanks to the thermal inertia of the compacted earth, the temperature is naturally regulated, while the passive design optimizes cross ventilation and natural light, reducing energy consumption. More than just a winery, Paralelo is a space where architecture, tradition, and sustainability converge, promoting the preservation of the environment and offering a unique experience that celebrates wine and the nature of the Valle de Guadalupe.
